Second Sunday after Epiphany

1st. Reading: Acts 18: 12-23

12 When Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews with one accord rose up against Paul and brought him to the judgment seat,

13 saying, “This fellow persuades men to worship God contrary to the law.”

14 And when Paul was about to open his mouth, Gallio said to the Jews, “If it were a matter of wrongdoing or wicked crimes, O Jews, there would be reason why I should bear with you.

15 But if it is a question of words and names and your own law, look to it yourselves; for I do not want to be a judge of such matters.”

16 And he drove them from the judgment seat.

17 Then all the Greeks took Sosthenes, the ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the judgment seat. But Gallio took no notice of these things.

18 So Paul still remained a good while. Then he took leave of the brethren and sailed for Syria, and Priscilla and Aquila were with him. He had his hair cut off at Cenchrea, for he had taken a vow.

19 And he came to Ephesus, and left them there; but he himself entered the synagogue and reasoned with the Jews.

20 When they asked him to stay a longer time with them, he did not consent,

21 but took leave of them, saying, “I must by all means keep this coming feast in Jerusalem; but I will return again to you, God willing.” And he sailed from Ephesus.

22 And when he had landed at Caesarea, and gone up and greeted the church, he went down to Antioch.

23 After he had spent some time there, he departed and went over the region of Galatia and Phrygia in order, strengthening all the disciples.

2nd.Reading:Hebrews 7: 1-11

1 For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him,

2to whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all, first being translated “king of righteousness,” and then also king of Salem, meaning “king of peace,”

3without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the Son of God, remains a priest continually.

4 Now consider how great this man was, to whom even the patriarch Abraham gave a tenth of the spoils.

5 And indeed those who are of the sons of Levi, who receive the priesthood, have a commandment to receive tithes from the people according to the law, that is, from their brethren, though they have come from the loins of Abraham;

6 but he whose genealogy is not derived from them received tithes from Abraham and blessed him who had the promises.

7 Now beyond all contradiction the lesser is blessed by the better.

8 Here mortal men receive tithes, but there he receives them, of whom it is witnessed that he lives.

9 Even Levi, who receives tithes, paid tithes through Abraham, so to speak,

10 for he was still in the loins of his father when Melchizedek met him.

11 Therefore, if perfection were through the Levitical priesthood (for under it the people received the law), what further need was there that another priest should rise according to the order of Melchizedek, and not be called according to the order of Aaron?

Gospel: Matthew 13 :1-9

1 On the same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the sea.

2And great multitudes were gathered together to Him, so that He got into a boat and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.

3 Then He spoke many things to them in parables, saying: “Behold, a sower went out to sow.

4 And as he sowed, some seed fell by the wayside; and the birds came and devoured them.

5 Some fell on stony places, where they did not have much earth; and they immediately sprang up because they had no depth of earth.

6 But when the sun was up they were scorched, and because they had no root they withered away.

7 And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up and choked them.

8 But others fell on good ground and yielded a crop: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

9 He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”

تذكار السيدة العذراء لبركة الزرع

الأحد ألثاني بعد الدنح

القرائة الأولى: أعمال 18: 12-23

12 وَلَمَّا كَانَ غَالِيُونُ يَتَوَلَّى أَخَائِيَةَ، قَامَ الْيَهُودُ بِنَفْسٍ وَاحِدَةٍ عَلَى بُولُسَ، وَأَتَوْا بِهِ إِلَى كُرْسِيِّ الْوِلاَيَةِ

13 قَائِلِينَ: «إِنَّ هذَا يَسْتَمِيلُ النَّاسَ أَنْ يَعْبُدُوا اللهَ بِخِلاَفِ النَّامُوسِ».

14 وَإِذْ كَانَ بُولُسُ مُزْمِعًا أَنْ يَفْتَحَ فَاهُ قَالَ غَالِيُونُ لِلْيَهُودِ: «لَوْ كَانَ ظُلْمًا أَوْ خُبْثًا رَدِيًّا أَيُّهَا الْيَهُودُ، لَكُنْتُ بِالْحَقِّ قَدِ احْتَمَلْتُكُمْ.

15 وَلكِنْ إِذَا كَانَ مَسْأَلَةً عَنْ كَلِمَةٍ، وَأَسْمَاءٍ، وَنَامُوسِكُمْ، فَتُبْصِرُونَ أَنْتُمْ. لأَنِّي لَسْتُ أَشَاءُ أَنْ أَكُونَ قَاضِيًا لِهذِهِ الأُمُورِ».

16 فَطَرَدَهُمْ مِنَ الْكُرْسِيِّ.

17 فَأَخَذَ جَمِيعُ الْيُونَانِيِّينَ سُوسْتَانِيسَ رَئِيسَ الْمَجْمَعِ، وَضَرَبُوهُ قُدَّامَ الْكُرْسِيِّ، وَلَمْ يَهُمَّ غَالِيُونَ شَيْءٌ مِنْ ذلِكَ.

18 وَأَمَّا بُولُسُ فَلَبِثَ أَيْضًا أَيَّامًا كَثِيرَةً، ثُمَّ وَدَّعَ الإِخْوَةَ وَسَافَرَ فِي الْبَحْرِ إِلَى سُورِيَّةَ، وَمَعَهُ بِرِيسْكِلاَّ وَأَكِيلاَ، بَعْدَمَا حَلَقَ رَأْسَهُ فِي كَنْخَرِيَا لأَنَّهُ كَانَ عَلَيْهِ نَذْرٌ.

19 فَأَقْبَلَ إِلَى أَفَسُسَ وَتَرَكَهُمَا هُنَاكَ. وَأَمَّا هُوَ فَدَخَلَ الْمَجْمَعَ وَحَاجَّ الْيَهُودَ.

20 وَإِذْ كَانُوا يَطْلُبُونَ أَنْ يَمْكُثَ عِنْدَهُمْ زَمَانًا أَطْوَلَ لَمْ يُجِبْ.

21 بَلْ وَدَّعَهُمْ قَائِلاً: «يَنْبَغِي عَلَى كُلِّ حَال أَنْ أَعْمَلَ الْعِيدَ الْقَادِمَ فِي أُورُشَلِيمَ. وَلكِنْ سَأَرْجِعُ إِلَيْكُمْ أَيْضًا إِنْ شَاءَ اللهُ». فَأَقْلَعَ مِنْ أَفَسُسَ.

22 وَلَمَّا نَزَلَ فِي قَيْصَرِيَّةَ صَعِدَ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى الْكَنِيسَةِ، ثُمَّ انْحَدَرَ إِلَى أَنْطَاكِيَةَ.

23 وَبَعْدَمَا صَرَفَ زَمَانًا خَرَجَ وَاجْتَازَ بِالتَّتَابُعِ فِي كُورَةِ غَلاَطِيَّةَ وَفِرِيجِيَّةَ يُشَدِّدُ جَمِيعَ التَّلاَمِيذِ.

  القرائة الثانية : عبرانيين  7 : 1 – 11

1 لأَنَّ مَلْكِي صَادَقَ هذَا، مَلِكَ سَالِيمَ، كَاهِنَ اللهِ الْعَلِيِّ، الَّذِي اسْتَقْبَلَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ رَاجِعًا مِنْ كَسْرَةِ الْمُلُوكِ وَبَارَكَهُ،

2 الَّذِي قَسَمَ لَهُ إِبْرَاهِيمُ عُشْرًا مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ. الْمُتَرْجَمَ أَوَّلاً «مَلِكَ الْبِرِّ» ثُمَّ أَيْضًا «مَلِكَ سَالِيمَ» أَيْ «مَلِكَ السَّلاَمِ»

3 بِلاَ أَبٍ، بِلاَ أُمٍّ، بِلاَ نَسَبٍ. لاَ بَدَاءَةَ أَيَّامٍ لَهُ وَلاَ نِهَايَةَ حَيَاةٍ. بَلْ هُوَ مُشَبَّهٌ بِابْنِ اللهِ. هذَا يَبْقَى كَاهِنًا إِلَى الأَبَدِ.

4 ثُمَّ انْظُرُوا مَا أَعْظَمَ هذَا الَّذِي أَعْطَاهُ إِبْرَاهِيمُ رَئِيسُ الآبَاءِ، عُشْرًا أَيْضًا مِنْ رَأْسِ الْغَنَائِمِ!

5 وَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ هُمْ مِنْ بَنِي لاَوِي، الَّذِينَ يَأْخُذُونَ الْكَهَنُوتَ، فَلَهُمْ وَصِيَّةٌ أَنْ يُعَشِّرُوا الشَّعْبَ بِمُقْتَضَى النَّامُوسِ، أَيْ إِخْوَتَهُمْ، مَعَ أَنَّهُمْ قَدْ خَرَجُوا مِنْ صُلْبِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ.

6 وَلكِنَّ الَّذِي لَيْسَ لَهُ نَسَبٌ مِنْهُمْ قَدْ عَشَّرَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، وَبَارَكَ الَّذِي لَهُ الْمَوَاعِيدُ!

7 وَبِدُونِ كُلِّ مُشَاجَرَةٍ: الأَصْغَرُ يُبَارَكُ مِنَ الأَكْبَرِ

8 وَهُنَا أُنَاسٌ مَائِتُونَ يَأْخُذُونَ عُشْرًا، وَأَمَّا هُنَاكَ فَالْمَشْهُودُ لَهُ بِأَنَّهُ حَيٌّ.

9 حَتَّى أَقُولُ كَلِمَةً: إِنَّ لاَوِي أَيْضًا الآخِذَ الأَعْشَارَ قَدْ عُشِّرَ بِإِبْرَاهِيمَ.

10 لأَنَّهُ كَانَ بَعْدُ فِي صُلْبِ أَبِيهِ حِينَ اسْتَقْبَلَهُ مَلْكِي صَادَقَ.

11 فَلَوْ كَانَ بِالْكَهَنُوتِ الّلاَوِيِّ كَمَالٌ ­ إِذِ الشَّعْبُ أَخَذَ النَّامُوسَ عَلَيْهِ ­ مَاذَا كَانَتِ الْحَاجَةُ بَعْدُ إِلَى أَنْ يَقُومَ كَاهِنٌ آخَرُ عَلَى رُتْبَةِ مَلْكِي صَادَقَ؟ وَلاَ يُقَالُ عَلَى رُتْبَةِ هَارُونَ.

أنجيل متى:  13 : 1 – 9

1 فِي ذلِكَ الْيَوْمِ خَرَجَ يَسُوعُ مِنَ الْبَيْتِ وَجَلَسَ عِنْدَ الْبَحْرِ،

2 فَاجْتَمَعَ إِلَيْهِ جُمُوعٌ كَثِيرَةٌ، حَتَّى إِنَّهُ دَخَلَ السَّفِينَةَ وَجَلَسَ. وَالْجَمْعُ كُلُّهُ وَقَفَ عَلَى الشَّاطِئِ.

3 فَكَلَّمَهُمْ كَثِيرًا بِأَمْثَال قَائِلاً: «هُوَذَا الزَّارِعُ قَدْ خَرَجَ لِيَزْرَعَ،

4 وَفِيمَا هُوَ يَزْرَعُ سَقَطَ بَعْضٌ عَلَى الطَّرِيقِ، فَجَاءَتِ الطُّيُورُ وَأَكَلَتْهُ.

5 وَسَقَطَ آخَرُ عَلَى الأَمَاكِنِ الْمُحْجِرَةِ، حَيْثُ لَمْ تَكُنْ لَهُ تُرْبَةٌ كَثِيرَةٌ، فَنَبَتَ حَالاً إِذْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ عُمْقُ أَرْضٍ.

6 وَلكِنْ لَمَّا أَشْرَقَتِ الشَّمْسُ احْتَرَقَ، وَإِذْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ أَصْلٌ جَفَّ.

7 وَسَقَطَ آخَرُ عَلَى الشَّوْكِ، فَطَلَعَ الشَّوْكُ وَخَنَقَهُ.

8 وَسَقَطَ آخَرُ عَلَى الأَرْضِ الْجَيِّدَةِ فَأَعْطَى ثَمَرًا، بَعْضٌ مِئَةً وَآخَرُ سِتِّينَ وَآخَرُ ثَلاَثِينَ.

9 مَنْ لَهُ أُذُنَانِ لِلسَّمْعِ، فَلْيَسْمَعْ»

First  Sunday after Epiphany

1st. Reading: 1 John 5: 13-21

13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God. 

14 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 

15 And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him. 

16 If anyone sees his brother sinning a sin which does not lead to death, he will ask, and He will give him life for those who commit sin not leading to death. There is sin leading to death. I do not say that he should pray about that. 

17All unrighteousness is sin, and there is sin not leading to death. 

18 We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him. 

19 We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one. 

20 And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life. 

21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.

2nd.Reading:Titus 2:11-3:7

11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, 

12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age,

13 looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 

14 who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works. 

15 Speak these things, exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no one despise you.

1 Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities, to obey, to be ready for every good work, 

2 to speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men. 

3 For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another. 

4 But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, 

5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, 

6 whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 

7 that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

Gospel: Luke 3 : 15-22

19 But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, 

20 saying, “Arise, take the young Child and His mother, and go to the land of Israel, for those who sought the young Child’s life are dead.” 

21 Then he arose, took the young Child and His mother, and came into the land of Israel.

22 But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning over Judea instead of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. And being warned by God in a dream, he turned aside into the region of Galilee. 

23 And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, “He shall be called a Nazarene.”

الأحد ألأول بعد الدنح

القرائة الأولى: تيطس ٢ : ١١ – ٣: ٧

11 لأنه قد ظهرت نعمة الله المخلصة، لجميع الناس

12 معلمة إيانا أن ننكر الفجور والشهوات العالمية، ونعيش بالتعقل والبر والتقوى في العالم الحاضر

13 منتظرين الرجاء المبارك وظهور مجد الله العظيم ومخلصنا يسوع المسيح

14 الذي بذل نفسه لأجلنا، لكي يفدينا من كل إثم، ويطهر لنفسه شعبا خاصا غيورا في أعمال حسنة

15 تكلم بهذه، وعظ، ووبخ بكل سلطان. لا يستهن بك أحد

1 ذكرهم ان يخضعوا للرياسات و السلاطين و يطيعوا و يكونوا مستعدين لكل عمل صالح

2 و لا يطعنوا في احد و يكونوا غير مخاصمين حلماء مظهرين كل وداعة لجميع الناس

3 لاننا كنا نحن ايضا قبلا اغبياء غير طائعين ضالين مستعبدين لشهوات و لذات مختلفة عائشين في الخبث و الحسد ممقوتين مبغضين بعضنا بعضا

4 و لكن حين ظهر لطف مخلصنا الله و احسانه

5 لا باعمال في بر عملناها نحن بل بمقتضى رحمته خلصنا بغسل الميلاد الثاني و تجديد الروح القدس

6 الذي سكبه بغنى علينا بيسوع المسيح مخلصنا

7 حتى اذا تبررنا بنعمته نصير ورثة حسب رجاء الحياة الابدية

  القرائة الثانية : ١يوحنا  ٥ : ١٣ – ٢١

13 كتبت هذا إليكم، أنتم المؤمنين باسم ابن الله، لكي تعلموا أن لكم حياة أبدية، ولكي تؤمنوا باسم ابن الله

14 وهذه هي الثقة التي لنا عنده: أنه إن طلبنا شيئا حسب مشيئته يسمع لنا

15 وإن كنا نعلم أنه مهما طلبنا يسمع لنا، نعلم أن لنا الطلبات التي طلبناها منه

16 إن رأى أحد أخاه يخطئ خطية ليست للموت، يطلب، فيعطيه حياة للذين يخطئون ليس للموت . توجد خطية للموت. ليس لأجل هذه أقول أن يطلب

17 كل إثم هو خطية، وتوجد خطية ليست للموت

18 نعلم أن كل من ولد من الله لا يخطئ، بل المولود من الله يحفظ نفسه، والشرير لا يمسه

19 نعلم أننا نحن من الله، والعالم كله قد وضع في الشرير

20 ونعلم أن ابن الله قد جاء وأعطانا بصيرة لنعرف الحق. ونحن في الحق في ابنه يسوع المسيح. هذا هو الإله الحق والحياة الأبدية

21 أيها الأولاد احفظوا أنفسكم من الأصنام. آمين

أنجيل متى  ٢ : ١٩ – ٢٣

19 فلما مات هيرودس، إذا ملاك الرب قد ظهر في حلم ليوسف في مصر

20 قائلا: قم وخذ الصبي وأمه واذهب إلى أرض إسرائيل، لأنه قد مات الذين كانوا يطلبون نفس الصبي

21 فقام وأخذ الصبي وأمه وجاء إلى أرض إسرائيل

22 ولكن لما سمع أن أرخيلاوس يملك على اليهودية عوضا عن هيرودس أبيه، خاف أن يذهب إلى هناك. وإذ أوحي إليه في حلم، انصرف إلى نواحي الجليل

23 وأتى وسكن في مدينة يقال لها ناصرة، لكي يتم ما قيل بالأنبياء: إنه سيدعى ناصريا

Sayings of the Saints

Prayer is the elevation of the mind and the heart, together, toward God. Thus reflecting the characteristics of God, His beauty, and His glory upon the human being, to become in the likeness of God.
الصلاة هي رفع العقل والقلب معا الى الله فتنعكس طبائع الله وجماله وأمجاده على الإنسان فيصير على مثال الله
